The legendary Panthers WR turned NFL analyst for the NFL Network and Underdog Fantasy joined the Kyle Bailey Show today to preview Thursday’s Draft and how it will shape the Panthers franchise for years to come.
Many people believe that the Panthers will take Alabama, QB Bryce Young, with the 1st pick in Thursday’s Draft. Kyle asked Steve asked about the size concerns with Bryce Steve responded by pointing out how we don’t bring up weight or height on other players that don’t succeed. He also noted that he hates to see people nitpicking on a guy like Bryce who can ball, and he also threw CJ Stroud into that equation.
When it comes to the importance of Thursday, Steve was blunt by stating that the Panthers have to make the right pick. The goal is for the Panthers to get a QB to solidify the position that can calm the storms up ahead and stay sturdy.
The Panthers have a need at WR as well and Steve pointed out how there are many guys who could be in consideration as he brought up guys such as Ole Miss WR Jonathan Mingo who Steve says reminds him of Eric Moulds. What could be good news for the Panthers is that Steve thinks the top 10 of the draft could be so chaotic that some really good players could fall in the draft leading to some good targets for the 39th pick.
