Al Wallace On Who Needs To Step Up In Nic Scourton’s Absence

The first day of training camp dealt the Panthers a hefty blow as 2nd-year Edge Rusher Nic Scourton sustained a torn ACL, with many having high hopes for last year’s 2nd-round pick. Former Panthers Edge Rusher Al Wallace joined Kyle Bailey to weigh in on the injury, and who needs to step up with Scourton out.
When it came to who needs to step up with the void left behind by Nic Scourton, Al told Kyle that they have exactly what they need right now in Patrick Jones, who has a proven track record and is looking for a bounce-back year after his back injury last year, and you can see how Princely is hungry to take advantage of more playing time. Al didn’t rule out going back to the free agent market to bolster the pass rush with a guy like Leonard Floyd, who Al wanted Carolina to go after last year in free agency as well.
Al would go on to discuss his expectations for Jaelan Phillips in his first year for Carolina, and if Monroe Freeling can do an adequate job filling in for Taylor Moton at RT.
