UNC Star Caleb Wilson Out for Season With Broken Thumb

North Carolina freshman Caleb Wilson will miss the rest of the season after breaking his right thumb during a non-contact drill in practice Thursday, the school announced Friday.
Wilson had been recovering from a left-hand fracture he suffered last month during the loss to Miami on February 10. There had been hope he could return before the end of the season.
The projected top-five pick in the 2026 NBA Draft finished his freshman year averaging 19.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists. His scoring average is the highest ever by a North Carolina freshman.
Wilson also set a program freshman record with 17 games scoring 20 or more points and recorded 11 double-doubles in 24 games.
Since his injury, the Tar Heels have gone 5-1 and have won four straight games. UNC is currently in position to earn a double-bye in the upcoming ACC Tournament.
