To say that this Panthers season has been a roller coaster is an understatement. The team raced out to a 3-0 start to begin the season, getting the talks of the playoffs stirred up early on before the team would be brought back to Earth and left searching for answers with a six-game stretch where they lost five games, including four straight after the 3-0 start. The franchise was reinvigorated when they resigned franchise legend Cam Newton prior to the Arizona game and followed that with a big win on the road against the Cardinals, making some reconsider whether the Panthers could make a playoff push. However, those thoughts have seemed to be dashed in a lot of people's minds after two straight losses, including a blowout loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.

With the struggles that this team was already having, Matt Rhule's job has been made even tougher as he tries to get this season back on the rails. The question now has to be, how important is it for his future with the team that he does get this turned around? As Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk told the Mac Attack on Wednesday morning, David Tepper's quick trigger may make it more important than you realize. "With David Tepper, you never know. Look at how he is ripping through quarterbacks. So I could see that attitude being directed to the coach. He has shown as it relates to quarterbacks that he is not patient so why would we think he's going to be patient with everyone else.

According to recent reports, Panthers head coach Matt Rhule and team owner David Tepper haven't been on the same page when it comes to what type of GM is best for the Panthers. Tepper would like a more analytical and stat driven GM, while Rhule would like someone with more of a scouting background.  

The Carolina Panthers fired General Manager Marty Hurney this morning.  The news broke during the 9 o'clock hour while The Mac Attack was on air while Panthers play-by-play announcer and WFNZ Sports Anchor, Jim Szoke was filling in for a vacationing T-Bone.
