Charlotte v Florida

There wasn’t a coach that talked more than Charlotte head football coach, Biff Poggi did last year in the preseason, entering his first season on the job. Poggi made bold proclamations that the 49ers would finish top-15 nationally defensively, and would compete to win the AAC, in their first year as a member. None of those things happened, as the 49ers finished 3-9 on the season, and they were 89th in scoring defense.

This means that Poggi and his staff had to upgrade the talent and the depth, after a slow start on the job, and he went out and hired Tim Brewster, one of the best recruiters in the sport, to help recruit not only kids coming out of high school but they ever-growing transfer portal as well. The results have paid off immediately, as Charlotte has brought in one of the best recruiting classes in program history, and one of the best transfer portal classes from a Group of 5 school. And on Friday morning, Poggi took to the Mac & Bone Show on WFNZ, to talk about the advancements his program has made off the field, in terms of upgrading the talent in the program.

You can catch the Mac & Bone Show every weekday from 6-10 AM, on Sports Radio 92.7 WFNZ, and the WFNZ app. They’ll be back on the air after the holiday break, starting January 2nd.
