Daron Vaught from ESPN+ and ACCNX joins the Mac & Bone show to recap the wild first weekend of the NCAA Baseball Tournament.

An eventful weekend saw six teams from North Carolina get eliminated. The teams that packed their bags and headed home for the season include UNC, NC State, Charlotte, Campbell, UNCW, and ECU. Sadly, one more team from North Carolina will be sent home as Duke and Coastal Carolina will face off tonight, June 5 at 6:00 PM (ESPN+) in the final elimination game of their Regional round.

Daron Vaught says that Wake Forest fans should be really excited about how they played in the Regional round, outscoring their opponents 48-6 in just three games. On Saturday they laid an absolute beating down on Maryland, defeating the Terrapins 21-6. The only concern Demon Deacon fans should have is that the overall number one seed hasn’t won the championship since 1999.

Even though Charlotte got eliminated, they had a massive win this Sunday when they defeated Clemson 3-2 and knocked them out of the tournament. Charlotte would later fall 9-2 to Tennessee, who didn’t lose a game in the Regional round and outscored their opponents 23-8. Charlotte fans should still be proud of their team with their heads held high and a positive outlook toward next season as this was a fantastic year for the program.

With six North Carolina teams eliminated, Daron Vaught still doesn’t feel there is much to be disappointed about. If there is one team that underperformed he said that UNC didn’t really hold up to expectations. They were dealing with injuries going into the NCAA Tournament but lost to Iowa in a rough 13-inning game.

The final thing Daron Vaught discussed on the show was the Umpires. They ejected some players for celebrations, especially with props, but the Umpires are just following the rules, and not just going out of their way to punish players.
