The GM of the Carolina Panthers joined The Kyle Bailey Show live from the NFL Combine in Indianapolis as he discussed some of the QB options the Panthers have this offseason, including the potential outlook for free agency.

The focus of the interview started at the QB position as Kyle asked Scott about the reports of preliminary conversations starting between the Panthers and Sam Darnold’s camp Scott confirmed those talks but he noted it was more on a casual level as they are trying to gauge the interest level so they can be prepared with free agency in a couple of weeks. Another QB the Panthers have talked to is Derek Carr as the meeting was mainly about getting to know him and vice versa while also trying to see if there is a fit as he impressed the Panthers, but Scott was quick to point out that doesn’t mean the Panthers are signing him.

With the rookie QBs Scott noted that Alabama Bryce Young was taller than he expected, and he was also so poised and in control during his meeting with the team. Scott also noted that Florida QB Anthony Richardson was much further ahead with the mental football processing and his athleticism is off the charts. The final QB that Scott talked about was Tennessee QB Hendon Hooker as Scott noted that he is a QB they are interested in and keeping an eye on.

The QB talk led Kyle to ask whether or not the Panthers will have to trade up to get the QB they want or can they wait at pick 9 for the guy as Scott stated:

“I don’t know if we can (Stay at 9). QB’s usually go early, and we’ll try to figure out where they’re going to go and then put ourselves in a position to get them, and if we have to be aggressive to do it we’ll do it, but we want to make sure we have convictions on these guys.”
