Today on the Mac Attack, Mac and T-Bone discussed what the Panthers backup plan at QB should be. Since Matthew Stafford is headed to LA, and Texans GM Nick Caserio said the team isn’t trading Deshaun Watson, the Panthers could be stuck with Teddy Bridgewater for another season.
Some of the other options for the Panthers out there could be trading for Sam Darnold, or drafting a QB. Mac said he didn’t see Darnold as much of a upgrade over Bridgewater, while T-Bone said otherwise. T-Bone says Darnold does not deserve blame for being not a franchise QB with the Jets, and Adam Gase was the main reason why. He brings up QB Ryan Tannehill, who was not good with Gase in Miami, but has flourished in Tennessee for the last 2 years. They also say the Panthers need to monitor the situation in Dallas with Dak Prescott because that would be a great move if he became available.
Other options for the Panthers include trading up in the first round for a guy like Justin Fields or Zach Wilson, or staying put at pick 8 and most likely only being able to get guys like Trey Lance or Mac Jones.
