Earlier today, Charlotte FC announced the hire of Dean Smith as their new manager for the upcoming 2024 season. And we know what you’re thinking, and it’s not the famous Dean Smith, that made Carolina Basketball a premier program. Smith brings to Charlotte, experience and a track record of success in England’s Premier League, and isn’t new to turning around underperforming clubs. Charlotte FC is coming off their first-ever berth in the MLS postseason, and the hiring of Smith sets the club up for sustained success, something they’ve failed to cultivate, as they’ve fired their managers, in each of their first two seasons of play.
