The Charlotte 49ers entered last weekend at 2-6, needing to win out to qualify for a bowl game, in the first year under Biff Poggi. That possibility looked bleak, when Charlotte found itself down 17-0, on the road to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. Instead, for the first time really all season, they responded well to adversity and would force overtime, eventually winning 33-26.

The win improved their record to a modest 3-6, but it was the second AAC win, both coming on the road after winning at ECU in October. It temporarily keeps their hopes of qualifying for a bowl game alive, with three regular season games to go. Charlotte hosts Memphis and Rice over the next two weeks, before finishing the regular season at South Florida. Of their remaining games, only Memhis has a winning record (7-2), while Rice and South Florida find themselves at 4-5.

Hunter Bailey covers the 49ers program for The Charlotte Observer, and earlier today, he joined the Wes & Walker Show on WFNZ, to talk about the comeback win at Tulsa, how the offense can build off their best performance of the season, and if they can carry this momentum all the way to bowl birth, for just the second time in program history.

You can catch the Wes & Walker Show, every weekday from 12-3 PM, on Sports Radio 92.7 WFNZ, and the WFNZ app.
