The Carolina Panthers and quarterback Andy Dalton agree to a two-year, $10 million contract that includes $8 million guaranteed, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Panthers were searching for a veteran player to mentor the quarterback, which the team plans to draft with the first overall pick, and believe Dalton will provide that skill.
Receiving the No. 1 overall pick by way of the Chicago Bears, the Panthers are concentrating on C.J. Stroud of Ohio State and Bryce Young of Alabama, according to sources.
Dalton was with the New Orleans Saints last season where he started 14 games, completing 66.7% of his passes for 2,871 yards. The 35-year-old threw 18 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.
The Saints finished 7-10 and missed the playoffs.
