The College Football Insider for both The Athletic and FOX Sports joined Kyle Bailey on Tuesday’s edition of The Kyle Bailey Show to discuss the Charlotte 49ers New Head Coach, and Drake Maye’s growing chances at a Heisman.

Earlier in the day Bruce broke the news that Charlotte has hired Michigan Associate HC and former longtime High School HC Biff Poggi to be the 3rd HC in 49ers football history as Bruce said the more he talked to guys around the Michigan program the more he realized that many people believe that Biff has been instrumental in the culture shift over the last 2 years for the Wolverines.

Bruce would also note that many people have gone out of their way to voice support for Poggi’s coaching prowess from Alabama’s Nick Saban to current Ravens Defensive Coordinator and former Michigan DC Mike Macdonald who told Bruce “He’d be a phenomenal Head Coach” as well as “It would be easy for him”.

One advantage that Bruce could bring to Charlotte right away is the amount of talent Biff could bring in from the transfer portal because of his relationships along with how he can get people to buy in. Bruce also pointed out that Biff is considered a next-level thinker due to his background in hedge funds and that possibly was a factor for Charlotte with their impending move to the AAC.

Kyle then asked Bruce about UNC QB Drake Maye and his chances at the Heisman trophy as he now seems to have a legit shot in a wide-open race for the award, and he can only help his odds if he lights it up against Clemson in the ACC Championship Game.
