North Carolina has scheduled South Carolina to a future home-and-home football series for 2028 and 2029. The agreement between both universities was first reported by Kevin Kelley at fbschedules.com.

The Gamecocks will host Tar Heels at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, S.C., on Sept. 2, 2028. The series will then shift to Chapel Hill, N.C. the following year on Sept. 1, 2029.

This will be the third meeting on the books between both schools over the next eight years. They are slated to play in the Duke’s Mayo Kickoff Classic in 2023 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C., which was the last venue to host their previous meeting two years ago.

North Carolina has played an SEC opponent five of the past eight seasons including the postseason. Three of those were against South Carolina with the Tar Heels only win in 2019. However, UNC leads the all-time series 35-19-4 since 1903.

The Tar Heels two non-conference opponents for the 2021 season are Georgia State (Sept. 11) and Wofford (Nov. 20), along with one neutral site game vs. Georgia Tech at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA on Sept. 25. It will be the eighth game played away from campus for UNC since 2015; half of which were bowl games.

North Carolina will close out the season at Carter-Finley Stadium against NC State on Nov. 26. One day before South Carolina welcomes Clemson to Columbia for their regular season finale.
