The Head Coach of the Charlotte Hornets joined Kyle Bailey on Tuesday’s edition of The Clubhouse to discuss why he came back, and some of the talent who stands out on this team.

Things with Coach Clifford started with him talking about returning to the Hornets after being fired by the team in 2018 as he said that it is great to be back with the organization and called it an exciting opportunity. Coach Clifford was quick to also point out that this is the most talented team heading into a season he has had.

Steve then went to his new PG in All-Star LaMelo Ball and how he wants to grow his game as he told Kyle he said so much of that starts with studying film and to coach guys efficiently you have to know their game and he thinks by watching the film with him it can be the first steps to helping him take the next step.

Coach Clifford was also very complimentary of Miles Bridges who is a restricted free agent as Steve told Kyle:

“Obviously he is a talented guy. He scores in a bunch of different ways, competes hard every night which are not easy traits to come by, but I’ve always viewed him as a guy with great intangibles. When you get someone with that much talent that plays with a consistant level of intensity every night with all of his intangibles it’s something very hard to find.”

One of the big questions surrounding this Hornets team is how they improve on the defensive side of the ball moving forward as Coach Clifford said besides getting to know the guys and getting a new coaching staff together is to improve on the defensive end while also keeping up the offensive pace this team already has. Steve pointed out that the 2 teams who made the Finals were teams that were balanced on both sides of the ball and there is work that needs to be done, but he also said that this team has shown promise on the defensive side of the ball already citing the amount of steals averaged by multiple players.
