The Afternoon Sports Talk Radio Host for 95.7 The Game in the Bay Area joined Kyle Bailey on Monday’s edition of The Clubhouse to recap the Warriors Game 2 victory, and Kenny Atkinson potentially becoming the next HC of the Hornets

Things started on the court as the Warriors bounce back and routed the Celtics in Game 2 of the NBA Finals Damon said they needed that win and what really stood out is that they did it definitively, especially in the 2nd half and Damon thinks after the first 2 games that this is a series that will go 6 or 7 games.

When it came to Steph taking a bigger role Damon said that this has always been Steph’s show but with the struggles that Jordan Poole, Klay Thompson, and Andrew Wiggins have had early on and he has been up to the task so far. Damon also pointed out that the struggles Klay Thompson has is in large part to him still coming back from 2 massive injuries and he won’t be back to full health until next season.

Kyle then asked Damon about Warriors assistant Kenny Atkinson being in the running for the Hornets job as Damon pointed out that while it is hard to judge assistant coaches and their impact, you can tell how Kenny has had an impact on how the offense looks a little different, and Damon thinks he deserves a lot of credit in the growth of players like Jordan Poole this season as player development has always been his strength, and Damon says if he was choosing the next Hornets coach, he would give the edge to Atkinson over Mike D’Antoni.

The conversation wrapped up with Damon giving a quick update on Jimmy G’s future with the 49ers as he said it is still unlikely that he is with the squad by the time the season starts, but things won’t heat up in the trade talks likely until he picks up a football again sometime late in July or in early August.
