Earlier this week, the New Orleans Pelicans said they are interested in trading up to the #2 or #3 pick in the NBA Draft and are willing to part ways with either Zion Williamson or Brandon Ingram to make it happen. The Hornets own the #2 pick and are in the process of determining whether or not to draft Scoot Henderson or Brandon Miller. Today, Michael Jordan agreed to sell his majority stakes in the organization but will stay on through the NBA Draft, and the start of free agency, and before he leaves his ownership role, he may have one more big decision to make.
Friday was a huge day of news around the Charlotte Hornets. Earlier this morning, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news that Michael Jordan was selling his majority stake in the franchise after thirteen years as the only African-American majority owner in sports. Almost simultaneously, fellow NBA insider Marc Stein said on his podcast, #thisleague UNCUT, that the Pelicans are considering moving Zion Williamson to the Charlotte Hornets.

With all the attention in Hornets land on the upcoming NBA Draft, as Charlotte owns the #2 pick, you may have missed that rising second-year center, Mark Williams underwent surgery today, to repair a ligament in his right thumb. According to Hornets.com, the procedure was successful, and he is expected to make a full recovery. This does likely bring into question, his availability to participate in the Summer League in a couple of weeks, but given his strong finish to his rookie season, it wouldn't be the end of the world.
Fans around the world of college sports have been expressing concerns about the direction of amateur athletics for years. The elements that usually seem to come under fire the most are the transfer portal and NIL collectives that have been established. While those things certainly have their negatives, it doesn't seem to be the thing that could cost college sports fans.
We're inching closer to next week's NBA Draft, and with the Finals over, that is now the focal point in the basketball world. The Hornets have been preparing for the draft since January, after a brutal start to the season, had them out of playoff contention right off the bat. A disappointing 27-55 record, did payoff when Charlotte did earn the #2 pick in the draft, just barely missing out on generational talent, Victor Webmanyama. With Charlotte being in control of how the rest of the draft will unfold, they have to decide whether or not to draft Brandon Miller, or Scoot Henderson, both of whom would be potential #1 overall picks in every other draft.

Both have ties to the area, with both having played their college basketball at Duke and Williamson, being from Spartanburg, SC, and Ingram from Kinston, NC.
This offseason is one full of questions for the Charlotte Hornets. What do you do with the No. 2 pick? What do you do with Miles Bridges? What do you do with PJ Washington? Now there is another question that needs to be on the table according to the Mac & Bone Show's Travis Hancock.
With the belief around the NBA, that Miles Bridges will be back in Charlotte for the 2023-24 season, a lot of people are starting to speculate about the possible contract Bridges will receive. Before his domestic violence issue, on the eve of free agency last summer, Bridges was in line to receive a max contract from Charlotte, after Bridges had a career year. After a year away from basketball, Bridges is still in line to get a big payday, as Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports, expects him to make around $25 million dollars, and John Hollinger of The Athletic, echoed that belief, saying he could receive a contract worth $29 million dollars annually. Is this right? Or should Bridges be paid less, after his off-the-court issue?
We are officially less than two weeks away from the 2023 NBA Draft, and while the Hornets are still doing their homework on who to take at #2, they have plenty of things that need to be addressed shortly after the Draft as well. With the Hornets being a small market franchise, they operate in a manner that not many people have any insight into what's going on inside that building.
