NFL: APR 25 2024 Draft

In a surprising move last night, the Panthers traded into the first round to draft South Carolina wide receiver Xavier Legette, their favorite wide receiver in this year’s draft. Legette is a versatile wide receiver that should make an immediate impact in Dave Canales’s offense, and provide a legitimate weapon for second-year QB Bryce Young in the passing game.

With Legette emerging as the potential pick for the Panthers, Wes & Walker had long been discussing what he could bring to Carolina, but they never thought that they’d have to trade up for him. With that, Walker came to the defense of the trade-up, even after some of the mishaps the franchise has made while trading up for players in the NFL Draft. Mehl said that the ability to have a fifth-year option on Legette was too tempting to pass up, and the fact that you only gave up 59 draft spots on Day 3 of the draft, made it worth the risk for first-time general manager, Dan Morgan.
