Yesterday was the final day of the 2023-24 regular season, and as we’ve known for some time, there won’t be playoff basketball in Charlotte once again. After entering the season with optimism of competing in the Eastern Conference, the Hornets slumped to a 21-61 record, after another rash of injuries took the team out of contention by the turn of the calendar. With that though, the atmosphere in and around Spectrum Center, is still a positive one, after the rookie season Brandon Miller compiled, along with the hire of Jeff Peterson in the front office, and a new head coach on the horizon.
Earlier today, the Wes & Walker Show was on hand at Spectrum Center, for exit day, as the players and the coaches met with the media one final time, before starting their off-seasons respectively. With that, they got the opportunity to talk a multitude of different players, including the aforementioned Brandon Miller.
First up, was Hornets guard Tre Mann, who arrived in Charlotte, after the Hornets dealt Gordon Hayward to the Thunder, giving Mann new life, after seeing his role diminish in OKC. Mann talked about his experience playing for Steve Clifford, what it was like playing in Charlotte, and what he envisions his role being next season.
Mann wasn’t the only Hornet who was acquired at the trade deadline to join the show, as did Grant Williams, who was traded to Charlotte, for P.J. Washington, in a move that almost in the off-season ironically enough. Williams talked about his time with the Hornets after getting traded from Dallas, what it was like playing for Steve Clifford, and why he believes the team isn’t far away from competing in the Eastern Conference.
Lastly, Hornets rookie Brandon Miller joined the show, as he talked about his favorite memories from his rookie season, the areas of his game he’ll look to improve upon entering next year, and other basketball topics.
