Football season is in full swing, with the end of the college football regular season next weekend, and the NFL is hitting its stride with the second half of the season officially underway. Even so, in this state, once the calendar turns to November, college basketball moves to the forefront, with national brands Duke and North Carolina, poised to compete at a high level this season.

Duke started the season preseason ranked #2 in the country, is 2-1 on the year, and is ranked 9th in the country, after a home loss to Arizona during the opening week of the season. Jon Scheyer’s Blue Devils earned a big win over Michigan State on Tuesday in the Champions Classic.

North Carolina finds itself 2-0, after wins over Radford and Lehigh to begin the 2023-24 season, and is ranked 20th in the country. After a final tuneup game this weekend against UC Riverside, we’ll learn more about this squad next week, during the annual Battle 4 Atlantis.

Nata Edwards knows as much about college basketball as anybody in the local media, as he’s the producer of the Eye on College Basketball Podcast, arguably the best national college hoops podcast out there. And earlier today, he joined the Wes & Walker Show on WFNZ, to talk about the start of the college hoops season, including his early thoughts on the blue bloods on Tobacco Road, why he thinks Steve Forbes needs to schedule better, and much more.

You can catch the Wes & Walker Show every weekday from 12-3 PM, on Sports Radio 92.7 WFNZ, and the WFNZ app.
