Normally, a Monday after a Panther loss is filled with vitriol towards the team, especially so far in 2023. However, this Monday was a unique one, as the displeasure of many football in this area of the country is towards the College Football Playoff Committee and their final four that was released on Sunday afternoon.

The controversy lies with the groups decision to put Alabama in the field at No. 4 over Florida State, despite the Seminoles finishing the season undefeated. While the Noles did win the ACC Championship on Saturday night, it was an ugly performance that saw them run a ton of wildcat and rely on their defense to pull it out. In the meantime, the Crimson Tide had just put together the best win of anyone in college football this year in Mercedes-Benz Stadium over the Georgia Bulldogs. Clearly the committee was wowed more by the latter and led to them leaving out an undefeated Power 5 champion for the first time ever.

Earlier this morning on the Mac & Bone Show, SEC Network analyst Roman Harper dropped by and said that the committee made the right decision. “I think the committee finally made the real hard, tough decision. It’s the difference between saying this is the four best teams and who are the four most deserving teams. This is supposed to be the four best teams and I still say the committee got it right. I don’t think they got it completely right when you’re saying you got the four best teams because I still believe Georgia is one of the four best teams.”
