Former UNC Star and Head Coach Matt Doherty joined Kyle Bailey for his weekly visit to The Clubhouse as he weighed in on the Hornets offseason to this point.

The conversation started with Matt breaking down Brandon Miller’s Summer League debut on Wednesday as he told Kyle that what he saw on film were great instincts, can set up teammates as well as handle the ball, and lacks a quick twitch. Matt then said Brandon reminds him of Brandon Ingram and he can eventually become a really good player.

Things turned to Free Agency with Miles Bridges signing his qualifying offer to stay with the Hornets for 1 year Matt thinks that shows how bare the market was for Bridges given the off-the-court issues as well as sitting out a year. Despite many concerns that he will be gone next year, Coach Doherty isn’t counting out the possibility that Miles could decide to come back to Charlotte for the long haul.

Many people were shocked that the Hornets didn’t bring back Dennis Smith Jr. as he signed with the Nets for 1 year 2.5 million as Matt thinks what hurt him on the market was the fact that he struggles to shoot, and if you can’t do that as a guard you’ll struggle to stick no matter what other attributes you have.
