Bone and Willie P, filling in for Mac this week, discuss the Hornets’ moves so far in NBA Free Agency. The first reactions are to LaMelo Ball signing the rookie max extension contract and how that sets the Hornets up for the future. Locked in now as the “face of the franchise” who do the Hornets look to add as his right-hand man?
With Miles Bridges being re-signed to the Hornets, Bone and Willie P discuss what this means for the team. His contract is obviously a “prove it” deal as he has signed a 1-year $7.9 million contract. This deal still leaves room on the table to make some more signings in free agency. With PJ Washington still without an extension, this might open up the money needed to sign him to one. There are also trade rumors that include Grant Williams from the Celtics. This would possibly replace PJ Washington on the court so if Washington gets his extension we might be able to wipe that rumor off the board.
The Nets signed Dennis Smith Jr. for a $2.5 million contract taking the homegrown man up north to a massive media market. DSJ rebuilt his career in Charlotte and now has a chance to prove himself on a big stage.
