The Head Coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks joined the Kyle Bailey Show on Friday to discuss the NFL Draft and the Gamecocks spring practices.

The conversation with Coach Beamer started with the NFL Draft and the Panthers selecting Alabama QB Bryce Young while Shane went against Bryce, he noted how his anticipation and accuracy stood out along with his situational awareness in 2-minute drills. The size of Bryce Young is the main concern for many, but Shane said that he has proven he can take hits and has been around more undersized QBs such as Kyler Murray and Michael Vick to succeed at the next level.

The Gamecocks are looking to have a couple of players selected in the 2023 draft as Shane told Kyle that CB Cam Smith is a fierce competitor with off-the-charts football IQ, while CB Darius Rush is an unbelievable corner with a lot of upside and value for special teams as well.

Kyle then asked Shane what he learned from the spring game as he was pleased with the electric atmosphere at Williams-Brice and the players fed off the energy. Shane also said he has been pleased with the work of the new OC Dowell Loggains and some of the new ideas he is bringing in.

The conversation ended with the proposed rule in the SEC of possibly taking away home games for storming the field as Shane admitted that when he first saw the proposal he thought it was a little too harsh, but he also pointed out the safety of the players and everyone else on the field is paramount and he understands the reasoning behind the proposal.
