The Carolina Panthers might be coming off a dismal 2-15 season, but there is a lot of energy in the building under new head coach Dave Canales that have some feeling frisky about the team’s chances to make noise in a wide open NFC South.

Greg Auman, NFC South reporter for FOX Sports, stopped by with the Kyle Bailey Show and talked about why the Panthers’ expectations shouldn’t nearly be as high. “I think they’ll be better. I don’t know if they’ll be competing in this division this year. I think to go from 2-15 to 5-12 or 6-11 isn’t necessarily a sexy jump, but it really is step in the right direction. I think there’s so much change on both sides. Personnel on defense scheme and personnel on offense. First year head coach, it doesn’t always take in year one. So I hope that it’s as at least enough of a step forward where there’s no risk or no jeopardy of them making another change. They’ve kind of had a short leash there in Charlotte with head coaches. And you hope that canales, knowing who he was and what he stepped into would have the chance to move it to year two and make another change there. If they win more than about six games with the schedule they have, it’s going to be a really good story.
