Queens University of Charlotte is heading to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history after defeating Central Arkansas 96-93 in overtime to win the Atlantic Sun Conference championship Sunday in Jacksonville.

The Royals secured the conference’s automatic bid to March Madness after an postseason run that included wins over West Georgia and Austin Peay.

The championship game went to overtime, where Queens scored the first seven points. After several key defensive stops and made free throws late, the Royals held on to seal the victory.

The tournament appearance marks a major milestone for the program, which moved to Division I and joined the ASUN Conference in 2022 after years of success at the Division II level.
