Did you catch Saturday Night Live over the weekend? If not, you missed the Queen’s City feature as part of the show’s Weekend Update.

Kenan Thompson made a cameo appearance playing the father of Charlotte Hornets’ top pick LaMelo Ball. The former ‘All That’ actor, who has frequently acted out LaVar Ball, started the skit with a couple zingers.

He opened by saying LaMelo was “Playing for the most storied franchise in all of basketball, the Charlotte Hornets. Charlotte, North Carolina, the regional banking capital of the world, gateway to Gastonia”

A total knock on Charlotte but nonetheless pretty funny.

“Oh, he’s got all the awards locked up. Rookie of the year, locked up. MVP, locked up. Prettiest hog at the Mecklenburg County Fair, locked up. That means he’s got some good bacon.”

Michael Che then remarked on Ball’s MVP comment asking why not LeBron James or Giannis Antetokounmpo? Thompson’s response was comical to say the least about the MVP pick.

“After he wins he’s gonna unite North and South Carolina into a super Carolina, called Carolossas. Monster of the South.”

Thompson as Ball then revealed a new chocolate shoe for LaMelo with caramel inside, called the “CaraMelos.” The fake $2,000 shoe from Big Baller Brand will get a good laugh.
