Early Friday morning, a Delta flight carrying Carolina Panthers players and coaches ran off the taxiway at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The incident occurred around 2:40 a.m. after the plane landed on a runway near the Billy Graham Parkway, close to the Sullenberger Aviation Museum.

The Panthers were returning to Charlotte after their preseason opener against the New England Patriots.

By 3:45 a.m., stairs were brought to the taxiway, allowing passengers to get off safely. According to Delta, the plane’s right-side landing gear veered off the taxiway following a normal landing.

The flight carried 188 passengers, who were bused to the terminal shortly after the incident. The aircraft was eventually returned to the taxiway and moved away from the runway.

All team members and other passengers were safely evacuated and are reported to be unharmed.
