Columbus Crew v Charlotte FC

While the focus is primarily on the NBA Draft tonight, Charlotte FC is coming off a big road win over the weekend, as they continue to climb up the Eastern Conference standings. A big reason why The Crown has enjoyed success so far has been a transformation into a defensive juggernaut, as they lead MLS in clean sheets, which has been necessary with their lack of offensive firepower in the first half of the season. The man behind the defensive turnaround is first-year manager Dean Smith, who arrived in Charlotte after a successful stint overseas in the Premier League. Smith has been able to maximize the most out of the current roster, and with the summer transfer window looming, Charlotte FC is poised to position itself as a legit contender in the second half of the season.

Earlier today, Smith joined the Mac & Bone Show on WFNZ, to talk about the start to the season, how important Ashley Westwood has been to this group, what he’d like to see added to the roster in the coming weeks, and even hinted at the possible return of a former DP, whose loan with another club has come to an end.

You can listen to the Mac & Bone Show, (Charlotte’s #1 morning show), every weekday from 6-10 AM, on Sports Radio 92.7 WFNZ, and the WFNZ app.
