NC State arrives at the Final Four, after a magical March, that was just another example of why it’s considered the best month in sports. The Wolfpack made their way to Phoenix. after winning 5 games in 5 days at the ACC Tournament, to earn the automatic bid for the ACC for the 2024 NCAA Tournament. The five-game winning streak, followed a four-game losing streak to end the regular season, bringing into question the job status of Kevin Keatts. After that incredible run, State earned an 11 seed in the Big Dance, and everyone thought they’d be one and done in the NCAA Tournament. Instead, the Wolfpack ripped off four straight wins, to make their first Final Four since winning the 1983 national championship.

The best part about this run is that it comes 41 years after State did the same thing back in 1983, winning three games in three days to win the ACC Tournament, before winning the 1983 national title in dramatic fashion over Houston in Albuquerque. A big part of that run was Thurl Bailey, who would go on to enjoy a very successful career in the NBA after helping NC State win their second national championship. Yesterday, Bailey joined the Wes & Walker Show on WFNZ, to talk about how he’s enjoying this run as a fan, and share his favorite memories from that run 41 years ago.

You can listen to the Wes & Walker Show every day from 12-3 PM, on Sports Radio 92.7 WFNZ, and the WFNZ app.
