The next few weeks will have a massive impact on the Charlotte Hornets, between the team holding the 2nd overall pick and Michael Jordan selling his majority stake in the team this has already turned into one of the biggest offseasons in Charlotte Hornets history.

A man familiar with Michael Jordan is former COO Pete Guelli as he joined Kyle Bailey on Monday to react to the news, and what this could mean for the Hornets franchise moving forward.

Pete wanted to share his perspective of Michael Jordan as an owner as many people have criticized his tenure as an owner for the Hornets lack of success as Pete stated:

“When Michael bought a majority stake in the team in 2010 the organization team was hemringing cash. The relationships between the local government, media, and businesses was fractured. I don’t know how it started with the Bobcats and Bob Johnson, but what Michael inherited was a disaster.”

Pete also noted that he doesn’t know if there would still be an NBA team in Charlotte if it wasn’t for Michael Jordan, and not enough people realize the impact he also had on the league as a whole.

The new Co-Owners of the team are Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall as Pete thinks that it will take some time for both guys to get adjusted to their new roles, but we could see both owners want to follow the blueprint that the Milwaukee Bucks have built over the past decade to get the Hornets in a similar situation moving forward.
