The Charlotte Hornets sign two free agent guards just before the start of the 2022-2023 season.

On Friday the team announced they sign 25-year-old NBA veteran guard Dennis Smith Jr. to a one-year deal.

The Fayetteville native played college ball at North Carolina State University before being drafted ninth overall in the 2017 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks.

Smith played two seasons with the Mavericks then bounced around the league. He played three seasons with the New York Knicks, one season with with the Detriot Pistons and one season with the Portland Trailblazer before ending up with Hornets.

Over 216 career regular season games, he averages 10.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.2 assists per contest.

On Monday, the Hornets added an additional guard to their roster. Former G-Leauge player, LiAngelo Ball signed a one-year deal with the Hornets, joining his brother LaMelo Ball.

A native of Chino Hills, Calif., appeared in 36 games last season for the Greensboro Swarm. Ball played three games for the Hornets in the 2022 Summer League.
