Coby White, a midseason acquisition, was instrumental off the bench, contributing 19 points, including a crucial three-pointer to force overtime.

His energy and scoring provided a much-needed spark for the Hornets.

The Heat, led by Mitchell’s 28 points and Andrew Wiggins’ 27, fought valiantly but were hampered by the loss of Bam Adebayo to a back injury in the second quarter.

Tyler Herro added 23 points, including a late flurry that briefly gave Miami the lead in overtime.

Charlotte’s resilience shone through as they overcame a seven-point deficit in the fourth quarter.

The win marks the Hornets’ first postseason home victory in a decade and sets up a Friday showdown against the loser of the Philadelphia 76ers-Orlando Magic game for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

With their sights set on ending a 10-year playoff drought, the Hornets will look to build on this thrilling victory and carry their momentum forward.
