We’re in the homestretch of the college football season, with three weeks remaining in the regular season, before Championship Saturday, and Selection Sunday, which will determine this year’s 12-team playoff field. The ACC finds itself in a weird position where it’s highest ranked team in the playoff rankings, is currently seventh in the league standings, and will more than likely miss the ACC Championship Game, making it hard to see a path to the CFP. As a matter of fact, depending on who emerges as the ACC champion, there is a scenario where they ACC gets left out of the playoff altogether, which would be a death blow to league, that feels like its on its last leg already.

With that in mind, the talking points around the local schools are peaking as we get closer to the end of the regular season. Bill Belichick has the Tar Heels at 4-5, after back-to-back wins. Jake Dickert has emerged as Coach of the Year, after Wake’s upset win over Virginia. Manny Diaz has Duke in the running to make it to Charlotte. And there’s Dave Doeren, who has team in position to make a bowl game, even with the defensive disaster that’s taken place this season.

To talk about those storylines, and more, Former Wake Forest head coach, and current ACC Network analyst, Dave Clawson joined the Mac & Bone Show, as he talks about how Jake Dickert has been able to enjoy so much success in his first year on the job, why NC State fans shouldn’t be in a hurry to run Dave Doeren out of town, and how Bill Belichick has the Tar Heels playing better down the stretch.

You can listen to the Mac & Bone Show, (Charlotte’s #1 morning show), every week day morning from 6-10 AM, on Sports Radio 92.7 WFNZ, and theWFNZ app.
