NASCAR returns home this weekend with the Roval at Charlotte Motor Speedway taking center stage as the playoff field will be cut from 12 to 8 after many twists and turns this weekend in the Queen City. 2004 NASCAR Cup Champ, and 2026 NASCAR HOF Inductee Kurt Busch joined Kyle Bailey to preview the Roval, and weigh in on the playoff discussion within the sport.

Over the last few weeks, there have been growing murmurs surrounding potential massive changes to NASCAR’s point system, with rumors circulating that playoffs could even be eliminated as soon as this offseason, as Kurt weighed in with Kyle, telling him it’s a Catch-22 scenario as he noted it’s hard to emulate what other playoffs have across sports due to the diversity of every track. Still, he also stated that it wouldn’t be the best for both the sponsors and networks, along with the sport, to have a title locked up with weeks still left to go. Kurt then told Kyle he thinks the playoffs should maybe just be a 5 race playoff with the person with the most points in that span to win it all, and the finale takes place at a different track every year.

Kurt would also go on to discuss the challenges each driver faces with The Roval, and what it means to be entering the NASCAR Hall of Fame in January.
