Hunter Bailey on Charlotte After Loss to App State

North Carolina’s loss to TCU might be the focus of many in the college football world after their embarrassing showing on Monday night, but they were not the only team that struggled mightily in Week 1 of the college football season locally.
After so much optimism about the hire of Tim Albin, the Charlotte 49ers hit a bit of a brick wall themselves on both sides of the ball on Friday night against the App State Mountaineers in the Duke’s Mayo Classic, where they fell 34-11. Despite a promising start defensively, the Niners were torn up through the air by the Mountaineers, allowing 368 yards and three touchdowns to a quarterback who was making his first start for the team under new coach Dowell Loggains. Offensively, things didn’t fair much better for the Niners, as they put up just 218 yards of total offense and only found the endzone one time under the direction of quarterback Conner Harrell, who struggled for most of the night.
On Tuesday afternoon, Hunter Bailey, Charlotte 49ers beat writer for the Charlotte Observer dropped by the Wes & Walker Show and discussed everything that went down on Friday and what to expect heading into the matchup with North Carolina this Saturday.
