With the spring transfer portal window and spring practice behind us, the countdown to the 2025 college football season is officially on, with conference media days just over a month away, the excitement is starting to build. There’s a lot to be excited about locally, given that the three Group of 5 schools, Charlotte, ECU, and App State, all made new hires last off-season, to go along with the arrival of Bill Belichick at UNC, and Clemson’s emergence as a national title contender once again. All of that sets up for the Carolinas to enjoy a fun college football season, for virtually every fan base.

Blake Harrell got the full-time job at ECU after going 5-1 as the interim and leading the Pirates to a bowl win over in-state rival NC State, whom they’ll open the season with on the first night of the season. Earlier today, Harrell joined the Mac & Bone Show on WFNZ, as he talked about the momentum they built last season, which led to him getting the full-time job. he talked about the state of the roster going into 2025, the excitement around the season opener, and more.
