Charlotte FC

On Saturday night, Charlotte FC will kick off their third season of play in the MLS, when they host NYCFC, at Bank of America Stadium. The Crown will look to build off last season, which saw the club make a deep run in the Leagues Cup, which spurned a hot finish to the regular season, as Charlotte qualified for the MLS postseason in just their second season. For that to happen though, they'll have to overcome a lot of changes that took place this off-season, as Christian Lattanzaio wasn't brought back as the head coach, and Karol Swiderski, one of Charlotte's designated players left for another club.

New Charlotte FC Head Coach Dean Smith met the Charlotte media for the first time Monday at Atrium Health Performance Park offering his desire to impart a sense of newness for the Queen City’s MLS club.

To say there is excitement about the Dean Smith hire for Charlotte FC might be a bit of understatement. Of course there is the obvious connections to the state with him sharing the same name as one of the greatest college basketball coaches and cultural leaders the state has ever seen along with his son […]

Earlier today, Charlotte FC announced the hire of Dean Smith as their new manager for the upcoming 2024 season. And we know what you're thinking, and it's not the famous Dean Smith, that made Carolina Basketball a premier program. Smith brings to Charlotte, experience and a track record of success in England's Premier League, and isn't new to turning around underperforming clubs. Charlotte FC is coming off their first-ever berth in the MLS postseason, and the hiring of Smith sets the club up for sustained success, something they've failed to cultivate, as they've fired their managers, in each of their first two seasons of play.
