The Charlotte Hornets entered Friday night’s game in Chicago on the tail end of a long west coast road trip, one that stretched back to the day after Christmas and without three of their top seven scorers. By the end of the first quarter, the Hornets found themselves down one, both on the scoreboard and […]

The 2023-24 NBA season hasn't gone the way the Hornets were hoping for, as they entered the season hoping to make the NBA postseason, or at minimum, the Play-In Tournament. Instead, Charlotte is 8-24 and was on an 11-game losing before they won at Sacramento the other night. Injuries have once derailed the season, as LaMelo Ball, Mark Williams, Terry Rozier, and Gordon Hayward have all missed extended time in the first two and a half months, which threw the season sideways.

After suffering back-to-back losses against high-profile competition, #11 North Carolina was seeking a win over a ranked opponent, to validate its position in the polls at #11. That opportunity came in the Jumpman Invitational, as UNC met #7 and previously unbeaten Oklahoma, in Charlotte. After a scoreless first two minutes, R.J. Davis swished in the first bucket of the game, and the Tar Heels never looked back on their way to an 81-69 win over the Sooners. Davis was one of four starters to score in double figures, as Armando Bacot (14), Cormac Ryan (13), and Harrison Ingram (11), all produced on that end of the floor. Carolina was able to overcome another poor rebounding performance, as they lost the rebounding battle 41-34, another sign that this isn't your vintage UNC rebounding team.

During Tuesday’s edition of the Mac & Bone Show, North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame Class. Executive Director, Trip Durham, joined the show as he announced the newest inductees to the Hall of Fame. One of the names listed was former Davidson HC Bob McKillop, who joined Kyle Bailey this afternoon to reflect on the […]

The family of Tar Heel great Eric Montross reported his passing on Sunday at the age of 52. According to his family, he was diagnosed with cancer in March. From 1990 to 1994, Montross played for UNC’s legendary head coach, Dean Smith. During his freshman and sophomore years, he was also a teammate of Hubert […]

The Charlotte Hornets were no match for Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers as the visitors earned a wire-to-wire victory over the hosts 135-82 at Spectrum Center Saturday.

Jonas Valanciunas scored a team-high 29 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to overwhelm the Charlotte Hornets’ front line, as the Pelicans defeated the Hornets 112-107 on Friday night at the Spectrum Center.

The Charlotte Hornets couldn’t make their late run stand against the Miami Heat Monday night at Spectrum Center, falling to the visitors, 116-114.

The Charlotte Hornets withstood a late run by the Toronto Raptors to pull out a 119-116 win on Friday night at Spectrum Center.

The NBA season is more than a month and a half old, and unless something changes, the Hornets won't be playing meaningful basketball after the Christmas holiday. Charlotte has been hampered by injuries, as Terry Rozier missed roughly three weeks of action early in the season, and now LaMelo Ball is sidelined for the foreseeable future with an ankle injury. Of course, those injuries coincide with Cody Martin's injury, which has had him sidelined since early last season. And while the injuries are very much real, head coach Steve Clifford isn't letting his team get away with that as an excuse, despite his team struggling to compete defensively consistently.
