In today's college athletics, there isn't much of an off-season for major sports like football and basketball, which makes for a busy spring on and off the field. Biff Poggi completed his second spring, as Charlotte's head football coach, as he looks to guide the 49ers to their second-ever bowl appearance, and Charlotte softball made the NCAA Tournament, after winning the American Conference tournament, their first season in the conference.

Earlier this week, the New Orleans Pelicans said they are interested in trading up to the #2 or #3 pick in the NBA Draft and are willing to part ways with either Zion Williamson or Brandon Ingram to make it happen. Today, Michael Jordan agreed to sell his majority stakes in the organization but will stay on through the NBA Draft, and the start of free agency, and before he leaves his ownership role, he may have one more big decision to make.

Fans around the world of college sports have been expressing concerns about the direction of amateur athletics for years. With the Oakland A's set to leave Oakland for Las Vegas, there are a lot of rumors about expansion around MLB, and the city of Charlotte is at the heart of the rumors. Along with Nashville, Charlotte has been identified as an ideal spot for an expansion MLB team, if and when the sport expands to 32 teams, just like in the NFL. The growth of Charlotte as a sports town has been well-documented, ever since the Hornets arrived in the 1980s. In the 1990s, the Carolina Panthers arrived, and Charlotte FC is currently in their second year of MLS play. Additionally, the city has hosted the Final Four, seen the Charlotte Knights relocate to uptown and much more.
