The Former Panthers WR turned NFL Network Analyst joined Kyle Bailey on Monday’s edition of the Kyle Bailey Show as he recapped the Panthers ending the season with a W over the Saints, and where they go from here.

Steve started the conversation by reflecting on the Panthers 2022 season as a whole as he told Kyle that by no means is this team a finished product, but the way it ended after what it looked like early on makes things promising. Steve pointed out that the way the players finished the season showed the relentlessness and grit of this team as a whole.

Kyle then asked Steve about the coaching search that will now take place as Smith thinks Steve Wilks did a good enough job to not only be interviewed by the Panthers but by other teams as well. Steve also hinted that other jobs could become open in the near future that could shake things up as well.

When it came to the WR position moving forward, Steve said building depth has to be addressed along with many other positions because of how many key players get hurt late in the year. Steve said having another talented guy in with DJ could push him to be better and it makes your offense better and more dangerous.

One of the many questions this offseason for the Panthers is how they handle the QB position as Steve thinks the key no matter what is to take your time and not go with your first instinct. Steve also said you have to look at what QB has the traits that it takes to be the Panthers QB.

The conversation with Steve ended with his thoughts of not being a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame for a 2nd straight year as he told Kyle that he is not really disappointed about not being a finalist as he is happy for all of the WR’s like Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Torry Holt, and his former teammate Devin Hester. Steve ended by stating his time will eventually come, and when it does it won’t be a wine and cheese celebration, but a good ol’ family BBQ.
