After an inspiring 1-0 win on Saturday vs NYCFC, Charlotte FC became the first expansion team to sweep the reigning MLS champions in league history. Unfortunately, even after the win, the team finds itself in 11th place of the Eastern Conference and 6 points out of a playoff spot. With only 4 games left, the thoughts of making the playoffs in its inaugural season are not impossible, but certainly improbable.

Are we ok with it? You bet we are! This team has brought an amazing product to the Queen City and they are just getting started. Although the points may not add up to a postseason birth, the growth of MLS soccer in Charlotte is booming. The atmosphere is electric and the connection between the players, the fans, and the city is incredibly evident. Charlotte has not only embraced our international players such as Fuchs, Swiderski & Kahlina. They feel a sense of hometown pride seeing our local talent playing at such a high level. Whether it be Jaylin Lindsey a local hero who played his youth soccer here in Charlotte or former Charlotte 49er Brandt Bronico, there is a sense of local pride every time the team steps on the pitch.

Charlotte FC is back in action this Saturday night when they travel to Soldier Field to take on the Chicago Fire. Kickoff is at 8 pm and you can catch all the play-by-play when announcer Will Palaszczuk and color analyst Jessica Charman call the action right here on WFNZ 92.7.
