The bracket for the Division 1 NCAA Baseball tournament is set! Games begin on Friday, June 2nd and with nine teams representing North Carolina, there are plenty of local eyes on how they perform. The nine teams in the tournament are Wake Forest, NC State, Coastal Carolina, Campbell, Duke, UNCW, ECU, UNC, and Charlotte.

All first-round matchups are double elimination series, let’s look at what matchups the local teams face in the first round!

  • Wake Forest enters the bracket as a strong one-seed after a 47-10 season and is set to play George Mason (34-25) on June 2nd at 7:00 pm. (ESPN+)
  • NC State finished the season with a record of 35-19 and will play the first NC vs NC matchup vs Campbell (44-13) at 1:00 pm on June 2nd. (ACCN, ESPN+)
  • Duke (35-21) will face UNCW (34-21) in what is the second NC vs NC matchup. The first game will be at 1:00 pm on June 2nd. (ESPN+)
  • Charlotte finished the season 34-26 but has a tough task as they will face Tennessee (38-19), this will truly test the 49’ers who play June 2nd at 6:00 pm. (ESPNU, ESPN+)
  • ECU finished with an incredible record of 45-17 and is set to play Oklahoma (31-26) at 7:00 pm on June 2nd. (ESPN2, ESPN+)
  • UNC (35-22) has a challenging first matchup as they face off against the Iowa Hawkeyes (42-14), if they can get past Iowa they should have a pretty easy path to the Super Regionals. This game is set to start on June 2nd at 7:00 pm. (ACCN, ESPN+)
  • Coastal Carolina was strong as usual, finishing with an overall record of 39-19 and an impressive 23-7 in conference play. Their first opponent is Rider University who finished 35-19 on the season. First pitch is 7:00 pm, June 2nd. (ESPN+)

Wake Forest is the betting favorite to win the whole tournament followed by LSU and Florida. Wake Forest is the only North Carolina school in the top ten as far as betting favorites go, so hopefully they can live up to expectations and other Carolina teams can prove experts wrong.
