The Alabama-Clemson classic is being called by many the best college football game ever. That has us thinking on The Mac Attack this week: Where does it rank among games involving teams in the Carolinas all time? Here is our answer. How does it match up with yours?

1) Duke-Kentucky 1992 Regional Final- I know it wasn’t a national title game or even a Final 4 game. But, it has tons of points (104-103) a potential game winner by Sean Woods of UK and then the legendary game winner by Christian Laettner.

2) State-Maryland 1974 ACC Final- Called by many the greatest college hoops game ever and by many others the greatest ACC game ever. Back then only one team from each conference went to the Dance. Two of the best teams in the country dueled for that right. State won 103-100 in OT. And of course they went on to win it all that year.

3) UNC- Georgetown 1982 NCAA Final- A Freshman named MJ hits the game winner to beat Ewing and Co. A national star is born. And, Dean gets his first title.

4) Clemson- Alabama – I put it only behind those 3 college hoops classics. This one had everything. NFL talent. A dynasty being stopped. And an all time great QB leading a game winning drive that ended with 1 second left.

5) TIE- Panthers- Rams Divisional Playoff 2003 and App-State-Michigan 2007- I couldn’t keep either off this list. The X Clown walkoff win is the greatest game in Panther history. And, the APP W is one of the greatest upsets ever.
